Reach For The Sky With High Flight Adventures!

Teenagers will have the opportunity to learn to fly this summer: In the skies of the National Capital Region, In Ottawa, Ontario Canada.

High Flight Adventures Aviation Youth Camp, the first camp of its kind in Canada, will provide a week long residential camp at the Rockcliffe Airport, starting the end of June 2008.

Mike Bourget, an air traffic controller and pilot himself, has a vision to help shape youth through aviation.. As a committed community builder, he wanted to share his passions with young people:  flying and reaching for the sky.

Bourget’s dream ‘to build leadership and self-esteem in young people through aviation’ became the concept for ‘High Flight Adventures Aviation Youth Camp’.

“I wanted young people to experience the awesome sense of unlimited potential you get up in the air.  This camp is a once in a lifetime opportunity to teach a young teen about their pure potential and their human spirit.  When you are up in the air, you have such a magical sense of empowerment and freedom.  I think this camp will really appeal to youth who are looking for ways to develop their own unique skills; while learning valuable self-esteem and team building skills” says Bourget, the creative catalyst behind High Flight Adventures.

With the support of business advisors, community builders and professional pilots, High Flight Adventures is excited and eager to begin introducing their young campers to the world of aviation and the many aviation-related careers available as well as teaching them about the science and safety aspects of flight.

With 192 placements available, in this summer’s camp sessions, participants will spend their week with facilitators, aviation professionals and veteran aviators.  Campers will learn to build and fly rockets, build and fly wooden gliders, and build aircraft components with aluminium, wood and fabric. Each young teen will lead their team through team building exercises, and experience a unique opportunity: As a member of a 3 person air crew; flying around the National Capital Region.  Supervised by Transport Canada Certified Pilots, participants will co-pilot a single-engine aircraft. The Camp activities include: visiting the Vintage Wings Aircraft Collection; Tours of Ottawa area air navigation facilities: Rockcliffe Airport and Ottawa Airport. Evenings will have campers interacting with veteran aviators, sharing their experiences and their leadership wisdom.

The High Flight Adventures camp sessions will be held from June 28 – August 30th at the Rockcliffe Airport.
